Finally, a finish!

Issue 27 of Quilt Now magazine dropped through my door yesterday, so that means that I can finally share the finished BOM quilt with you!

This quilt was a bit of a departure from the norm for me as I usually avoid sashing like the plague. This time around I felt that it was necessary to sash to bring all the colours of the different blocks together. There was plenty of negative space too so when I sent this away to Trudi for quilting I just knew that it would come back utterly transformed. I thought you might like to see the treatment that Trudi gave to each block so prepare for photo overload.

Trudi introduced so much texture with her beautiful quilting, it really makes the Kona solids sing. As per usual the quilt was pieced and quilted with Aurifil. I used the Emily Cier Kona solids bundle from Robert Kaufman to make this version of the quilt and I have the added bonus of having a full fat quarter stack bundle left over so I thought it would be nice to celebrate the end of this BOM with a giveaway!

You can have up to 3 chances to win this fat quarter bundle:

  1. leave a comment to let me know what you would make if you won the bundle
  2. follow our blog and leave a comment to say you follow us
  3. sign up for our occasional newsletter and leave a comment to let us know that you have signed up (if you already subscribe just leave a comment to say that you do)

The winner will be chosen at random after 6.00pm (BST) on Sunday 31st August 2016. Open to all. Please be sure to leave a contact email in case you win, I will re-draw if I am unable to contact the original winner.

Catch you soon x

Finishing up

I’m in the process of finishing up the current Quilt Now BOM. There are three 3 blocks remaining before readers will put their blocks together to finish but I’m obviously working ahead. I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at my finished top because I’ve received the most awesome package of quilted goodness from Trudi Wood.

I’m not usually a sashing and borders kind of girl but this quilt really called for the extra breathing space to make the blocks work together. I sent this top off to Trudi to work her magic and as usual I was bowled over by her skills! Here’s a sneaky peek to show you what I mean.

I am really looking forward to sharing the whole thing with you in a few months time! In the mean time I’m going to be stitching away madly on the next Quilt Now BOM. I’m thrilled to have designed the third BOM and really hope that some of you will stitch along with me again. Catch you soon x
